When people think of headsets, they tend often to think of the well-known Bluetooth earpieces. These have been put to very good use for cell phone purposes – but now, some of these sets are being designed with the enjoyment of entertainment in mind, as well. This is the purpose of the Nextlink Spider Bluetooth headset. The Spider also caters to those who use VoIP applications. It offers at least the potential to be a landmark device that can shape the way we use our phones with music… The major question is: Can I rely on this device?? Well, that’s what a review is for – and the reviews on this headset have come back with both good points and bad points. First, some positive aspects of the set: For starters, the Spider has foldable headphones which have an easy single-button control that makes it simpler to use the stereo audio function of your Bluetooth. This device also includes a USB adapter and an adapter for AC charging, as well. You can use the joystick on the right ear to control media files; this joystick also controls volume if you move it up or down. This is a really impressive feature. Another positive is the fact that it is a little bit less expensive than some of the devices you’ll find from Logitech, and competitive with the Phillips headset. The Spider compares pretty well in accessories with Logitech products, and has lots of promise. This headset is able to suspend music you are listening to on an MP3 to let an incoming call through if you want it – then, the music returns once you have finished the call. This seems to be a nearly phenomenal product in several respects. However – there is one major downside that many people seem to be finding with this headset: the battery life of the product. While the device should probably have long life, the batteries apparently typically begin to wear down within a short time of continuous usage. Some have reported getting only 5 to 10 songs before the shelf life runs dry, others have claimed batteries only let them access two or three tunes before the device’s battery indicator began to beep and the charge light begins to blink for some people. It would appear that the device has very poor battery life. This is a pretty significant obstacle. Still, if you can find a way around it – or if this problem doesn’t happen to you at all – then the Nextlink Spider Bluetooth headset might be the kind of thing you really might enjoy.
